Please join us on Friday night August 6th at 7PM representatives from the group Voices from the Border will join with us from Arizona via a Zoom conference call. Voices from the Border is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization providing humanitarian aid, support and medical care to migrants, refugees and those living in extreme poverty in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. This conference call will educate us by sharing the work that this organization is doing. With this information those who are interested can get together at a later time and decide if there are ways we can help with the care of migrants and refugees that are in need along the border.

The format of the evening will be a brief introduction to the work of Voices and then responses to questions we have about what is happening at the border. Do you have other questions? What are you interested in learning about? Bring your questions. Below are some questions we have collected.
  • Why do asylum seeks leave their homes? What are some reasons and some stories about the people who are coming to the border?
  • What is Voices doing to help people before they cross the border and after they cross the border? What happens legally once people are in the United States after crossing illegally?
  • How is Voices different from other organizations – what niche does Voices fill?
  • How do you decide who to help?
  •  Tell us about the children, their needs, the status of unaccompanied minors.
  • How is the health of those who cross? Is the flu and COVID infections an issue?
  • What are the border patrol priorities currently? Is the military on active duty along the border?
  • What is the status of drug cartels and traffic at the border?

  •  What is Voices’s budget? How is money raised?
  • Is it possible to visit the border to observe or volunteer?
  • Are their opportunities to sponsor a migrant family?
