The Welcome Project of PA
The Welcome Project PA strives to be a diverse, safe place for marginalized and vulnerable populations and seeks to bring about positive social change to improve the quality of life for these individuals and families in Greater Philadelphia. We provide educational resources, support groups, social activities and events, advocacy, interfaith learning and cooperation, and LGBT+ friendly, trauma-informed therapy, healing, and counseling. We serve newcomers to the US, Spanish-speaking communities, refugees, vulnerable faith communities, LGBTQ+ communities, and people living in poverty who lack the basic necessities.

        This organization has a long history of supporting refugee and immigrant peoples, starting as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS). They have a wide variety of volunteer positions available, and you can check their website. Donations are accepted on the website.
Types of opportunities: 

Administrative, Programming, Appointment Accompaniment, Childcare , Volunteer Team, Citizenship Tutor, Delivery Driver, ESL Tutor, Home Set-Up Team, Job Search Mentor, Philly Neighbor, Meal Preparation and Grocery Shopping

To do direct volunteer work, you have to go through an orientation (1.5 hours online) held monthly. To do direct service with clients you have to get background checks.  Orientations occur the beginning of each month. Click here

   NSC has run ESL classes and provided a wide variety of services to the highly diverse community in Philadelphia for one hundred years. They offer programs and many ways to give, including buying gift cards for groceries and other supplies.

Our Meeting house and facilities are wheelchair accessible (with assistance to open outside doors) via the walk ways to the front porch and the ramp on the gathering space patio behind the Meeting house. with assistance to open outside doors. Assistance with navigating the gravel parking lot is available as needed.
