Apache Stronghold’s brief to the US Supreme Court
 

During the 9th month Business Meeting the Right Relationship working group requested that our Monthly Meeting sign on to a legal brief to the United States Supreme Court requesting it to hear a case to repeal the transfer of Apache Sacred Land under the care of the US Forest Service to a foreign mining company. Our Monthly Meeting was in unity with taking this action. The paperwork was submitted and accepted listing our Monthly Meeting in the Brief field with the Supreme court.

We received this email from Christopher Mills - Spero Law LLC, one of the Lawyers for Apache Stronghold

"As you may have seen, the Supreme Court today denied review of this case, over a dissent* written by Justice Gorsuch and joined by Justice Thomas. While today's result is deeply disappointing, I understand that the legal team at Becket is considering all possible legal options for preserving Oak Flat, including potentially seeking rehearing from the Supreme Court and asserting additional claims when the case is remanded to the district court. I know they are very grateful for your support of religious freedom and of Oak Flat."

The Right Relationship working group of PMM will continue to listen for what support we can lend the Apache as this issue continues to unfold.
