Memorial
for
Ruth T. Peterson

2026 Apr Ruth Petterson

Ruth Peterson, a beloved member of Abington Quarterly Meeting, died peacefully on January 31, 2026 at her home in Pennswood Village.

Ruth and her husband Charlie were mentors to all members and attenders of our Quarter's Monthly Meetings. Their love for one another set a high bar for those of us just coming into love and marriage. Their commitment to peace and justice stood on the firm foundation of the experience of injustice and war. While engaged in all the activities and responsibilities of  their home Meeting (Abington) and in the Quarterly and Yearly Meeting they never lost sight of what was most important – being in loving relationships with everyone they met. Ruth entered conversations with a hug and then the question ”What’s important to you?” She really wanted to know how life was unfolding, good or bad. She was there with understanding, love and when needed a wee bit of wisdom.

Use this link to her obituary and many pictures from throughout her life as daughter of homesteaders in Wyoming, young bride during the war years, family raising and fun and many photos of her and Charlie. Click here to go to the obituary.
