How can a Monthly meeting community assist members and attenders as they navigate the
changing health care environment?

Abington Quarterly Meeting  Home and Care Committee has been offering their " A Tender Time" workshop to our Monthly Meetings this year. Bonnie Miller, Clerk, and Rebecca Cratin, Administrator, provide resources and open discussions to address the complicated issues that arise with aging and chronic and serious medical conditions. Their presentation focus on how our Quaker process of clearness and support committees can provide the basis of assistance to our members and attenders. Rebecca and Bonnie's personal and professional lives as well as the book "A Tender Time - Quaker Voices on the End of Life" provide the foundation of their workshop. Chapter 6 - Circles of Care: A loving Meeting will be the focus of the presentation. Friends will find all of the chapters helpful in luminating a path for our own journey as we age and ways of accompanying those who we love.

Friends are encourage to pick up a free copy of this book, available at the meeting.

2026-06-Tender Time

From the Baltimore Yearly Meeting’s End of Life Working Group, A Tender Time is a unique collection of Quaker voices, historical and contemporary, that explores practical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of aging and dying well. It moves in widening circles, from aging to dying, and from primary caregiver to friends to the whole faith community. It illustrates how individual Friends make end of life decisions guided by the Spirit and Quaker values.
