Remembering the Children of Gaza
The Gaza Children’s Shroud
The Shroud, an enormous white cloth 7.5 meters wide and 25 meters long,
bears the names of 18,457 Palestinian children and young people, aged 0 to 17,
killed in Gaza by Israeli hands since October 7, 2023

The Children's Shroud, bearing the handwritten names of more than 20,000 children killed in Gaza, will begin its journey in Philadelphia on September 1 with a major public gathering at City Hall calling for freedom, justice, and the protection of life in Palestine. From there, the Shroud will travel to New York City for its international launch at the United Nations Church Center on September 16, during the United Nations General Assembly. In October, the Shroud will continue to Washington, D.C., for a week of witness, including a Vigil and public reading of every child's name, and events with the public and members of Congress, before traveling to cities and countries around the world.

Dear friends,
Join us, September 1, at Philadelphia City Hall North for Remembering the Children of Gaza, a community shroud signing and interfaith vigil honoring Palestinian children killed in Gaza.
The Gaza Children’s Shroud is a nationwide effort to handwrite the names of more than 20,000 Palestinian children killed in Gaza. Christians, Muslims, Jews, people of other faiths, and those of no religious tradition are coming together to write each child’s name by hand, one by one.
The project was inspired by a memorial shroud in Italy bearing more than 18,000 names, which has been carried through more than 40 communities. In the United States, the act of creating the Shroud has itself become a practice of prayer, remembrance, and witness — a way to honor each child individually and hold in our hearts the human lives represented by numbers that can otherwise be difficult to comprehend.
Philadelphia will mark the beginning of the Shroud’s public journey. Together, we will inscribe the names of 400 children before the Shroud travels to New York City, Washington, D.C., and communities around the world.
